Our IPC topic, 'How Humans Work' received a turbo-rocket boost this week when all of the children in Year 4 took part in 'Brilliant Bodies' workshops delivered by Abbie from Love Science. The children looked at the importance of hygiene and the 'germ detectives' soon found a host of germs all over the children and their surroundings which had spread incredibly quickly. They thought about the human defence of getting rid of germs and to illustrate this made some snot to take home! The day also included looking at human and animal skeletons as well as the digestive and circulatory systems. The highlight for some children was dissecting a real heart so they could look more closely at the different parts, relating this back to their prior learning.
